James 1:1-4

It is normal to face trials and difficulties. As disciples of Jesus we must learn to rejoice even in times of adversity. This does not mean we rejoice in the suffering itself but rather to consider it joy that God is with us through it all.

Don't passively allow the trial to crush you. Be mindful that God is with you and trials are meaningful. Rejoice in the goal/purpose of the trial. Rejoice because you know (not just a feeling); so we must know and apply the scriptures

3 purposes for testing faith. God is allowing you to see who you are and the level of your spiritual maturity so that we draw closer to him and rely on him. We gain strength (growth happens through the process of pain). It produces the virtue of perseverance to increase our effectiveness in God's kingdom.

Be patient with yourself and others as growth takes time.
